`This Year`s Love 97` is an excellent compilation, containing
some of the finest love songs and ballads produced in 1996-97.
My now ex-girlfriend gave this CD to me on our 5th anniversary,
February 14th 1998. 3 hours later she told me that `we want
different things out of life, I think that we should each
go our separate ways`. Every time I listen to the CD, I remember
all the happy times that Laura and I had together. The track
by Mariah Carey is particularly poignant, and always brings
tears to my eyes. Quite fittingly, the last track ends very
abruptly, and I am cruelly reminded of how the happiest time
of life was brought to a sudden and solitary end.
Having just read what I have written I realise that I actually
hate the album. Please don`t buy it, not because of the
songs on it (which are admittedly fine), but as a mark of
respect to me and all the other poor souls who are treated
badly by their partners.

This is one of my favourite albums, reminding me of all
the happy times that I have spent with my girlfriend. Laura
gave me this album on our first valentines date some two
and a bit years ago and it's hardly left my CD player since.
It's a true stalwart of the genre and can assuage even the
most savage of beasts. For some reason "This Year's Love"
seemed to be much better than the love of all the other
years and I love it. I love it. I love it.

I have a special place in my heart for this album. It has
provided me with support through many difficult phases of
my life, giving me that emotional boost whenever it was
most needed. I can empathise with tracks such as "Cheating
Girl" by Mariah Carey and the more house-like "You don't
know what I'm doing (behind your back mix)" by Armand van
Legpull, the artist that started off doing bootleg mixes,
then moved into love ballads, a la Sash. I strongly recommend
this to anybody, and it's a great record to share with your
loved ones! A perfect gift for getting your man under the
thumb.
