The year of inauguration of the club saw Ian McCafferty put the name of Law & District firmly at the top of Scottish Athletics. Ian finished the season ranked number one in Scotland for the 1mile, 2 miles and 3 miles. In the mile event he won both the National and District Titles and with sterner competition at home would almost have broken the four minute mile. The 2 mile event saw Ian break the National Record with a time of 8mins 32.2secs in an enthralling victory at White City. Not content with one record, Ian went on to break the 3 mile record at a meeting in Santry, Dublin with a time of 13mins 06.4secs. One of his finest races over 3 miles came at White City in an international match against the USA.

The Brown brothers, Alex and Andy, also proved to be a dominant force over 6 miles with Alex ranked 5th and Andy 12th. Alex picked up the bronze medal at the National 6 mile Championships and also the silver medal in the 3 miles at the West District Championships.
