The year proved another successful one for the club with no fewer than 14 athletes appearing in the rankings and ten championship medals being won between the Nationals and Districts. Ann Dalton, an exciting prospect, became the first female from the club to win a medal at the National Championships when winning the bronze medal in the Junior Women's 100m and 200m, this coming soon after winning the District 100m and coming runner up in the 200m. She finished the season ranked 5th in the 100m with a time of 12.6 and 8th in the 200m with a time of 26.5secs. The Junior Women section within the club was fairly strong with Margaret Melville and Margaret Simpson ranked 15th and 18th respectively in the 800, whilst in the 1500m Catherine Hall and Margaret Simpson were ranked 18th and 21st. The Junior Women also made the rankings for the 4x100m and 4x800m relay. It was a welcome return for Jim Thomson who finished top of the rankings in the Junior Men's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9mins 33.6secs, this being good enough to rank him 15th in the Senior Men's lists. Youngsters Hugh Forgie and Kenny McCartney were beginning to be a force to be reckoned with Hugh being ranked 5th in the Junior 1500m and Kenny finishing 2nd in the Youths 1500m and 5th in the 2000m Steeplechase. In the field events David Glencorse continued where he left of last year appearing in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump and also picking up the bronze medal in the Long Jump at the National Championships.
