Having already won the bronze and silver medals at the National Championships, Ann Dalton finally made it third time lucky, winning the 100m title in a time of 12.1secs and the 200m title in a time of 25.2secs. Ann then remarkably stepped up and took on the Seniors and ran superbly to take the bronze medal in the 100m at the National Championships. This capped off a remarkable year having already won both the 100m and 200m at the District Championships and topping the 100m rankings for the second year in a row and also finishing 2nd in the 200m. She was joined in the female rankings by "up and coming" youngster Linda Thomson who picked up a silver medal at the District Championships and also finished runner up in the 800m rankings with a time of 2.26.5secs. Despite Kenny McCartney having a rather inconsistent season he still managed to win the National Junior 800m Title and was also involved in a stunning race at the District Championships where he was just inched out by Nat Muir in the 1500m. He finished the season ranked 1st in the 1500m, 2nd in the 800m and 5th in the 5000m proving that he was one of the most talented juniors in the country.
