Quathquan schoolboy David Russell made a huge impact in his first year in the sport, winning the 1500m at the National Championships and picking up silver medals in both the District 800m and 1500m Championships. He set excellent times throughout the season, finishing 3rd in the 800m with a time of 2mins 01.1secs and 2nd in the 1500 m with a time of 4mins 07.4secs. Hugh Forgie set another personal best in the 1500m with a time of 3mins 48.0secs to move up to 7th in the rankings, and with a time of 4mins 11.7secs he was ranked 16th in the mile. The longer distances proved to be Douglas Frame's forte, breaking the 30min 10,000m barrier for the first time to finish 3rd in the rankings. He took bronze medal at the National Championships in the 10,000m and the silver over the 5000m at the District Championships. Training partner, Jim Thomson, showed vast improvement over the year, winning another District title over the 3000m steeplechase and finishing 4th in the rankings with a time of 9mins 01.0. This was Jim's ninth year in the rankings, the most ever by a Law athlete. It was especially pleasing to see females from the club back in the rankings. Fiona McDonald, who switched from Clyde Valley, proved that she would be an asset to the club, ranking 16th in the 100m and 9th in the 200m. Youngster Lorna Slater had a successful season, winning the silver medal in the Javelin at the National and District Championships and finishing 4th in the rankings.
