The star performers of the year were training partners David Russell and John McNeill who produced an epic race at the National Championships where they picked up the Gold and Silver medals in the Youths 1500m, the first double ever from Law athletes. Surely this is the start of many a fine battle between the Bill Dickson coached athletes. The usual suspects appeared in the Senior Rankings with Hugh Forgie, Douglas Frame and David Glencorse all appearing in the top 15 of their respective events. David Glencorse won his customary District medal picking up the silver in the Long Jump with a jump of 6m 79cm. After a 10 year absence it was good to see Billy Nelson appear in the rankings, 29th in the Senior 1500m with a time of 3mins 58.8secs. The Marathon saw a Law athlete appear for the first time with David Fairweather ranked 60th with a time of 2hrs 36mins 04secs. In the female rankings, Fiona McDonald ran the same time as last year for the 100m but improved in the 200m to 25.3secs to move up to 14th and 8th respectively. After her success of last year, Lorna Slater moved up an age group and was ranked 20th in the Intermediate Javelin.
