There was triple success for the club at the National Championships with Alaister Russell, John McNeill and Joyce Barclay all winning their first National Titles. Alaister won the Boys 1500m in a time of 4mins 16.26secs to finish second in the rankings. John McNeill dominated the Junior distance running, winning the 5000m in a time of 14mins 52.8secs, however he went even faster to top the rankings with a time of 14mins 16.40secs. David Fairweather made his third appearance in the marathon rankings, slashing his personal best time to 2hrs 24mins 49secs to finish 41st.

Douglas Slater, younger brother of Lorna, made the rankings for the first time, finishing 3rd in the Boys 100m and 2nd in the 200m.

It was a successful year for Joyce Barclay, winning the national championships at the Long Jump and also finishing top of the rankings.
