Once again it was the youngsters leading the way, with Kimberly Canning in particular becoming a major force to be reckoned with. In the Under 15 age group she finished ranked 3rd in the 200m with a time of 26.14secs which also gave her the silver medal in the National Championships. This time was also good enough for her to be ranked 41st in the Senior Women's age group. However the highlight of her season came when she broke the National Indoor Record over the 200m with a time of 25.80secs. She also finished 16th in the 100m rankings with a time of 13.1secs and 15th in the 75m Hurdles with a time of 12.3secs. She was joined in the Hurdles by Nicola McGhee who finished 14th in the same time.

Colin McMaster made a huge improvement in the High Jump, going from 1m 65cm to 1m 95cm in a season to finish 2nd in the Under 17 rankings and 17th in the Senior Men. During the season he added a further two Championship medals to his collection, picking up the bronze medal in both the National and District Championships.

Kevin Quigley burst onto the scene in the Under 15 age group at various events, finishing 18th in the 400m, 5th in the 800m and 2nd in the High Jump, the event which he picked up the silver medal at his first National Championships. It was also first time in the rankings for the Murphy brothers with Brian finishing 16th in the Under 15s 200m and Frankie finishing 20th in the Under 13s Javelin. Another youngster to come to the fore was Lisa Weldon who picked up the bronze medal in the Long Jump at the National Championships, finishing 17th in the rankings with a jump of 4m 70cm.

In the Senior rankings Alaister Russell made another five appearances and also picked up another Championship medal, finishing 2nd in the 5000m at the National Championships.

Finally, Kay Dodson made another appearance in the rankings, this time even more remarkable, topping the 24 hour lists when she covered a distance of 103miles 1184yards.
