It was another successful year with 14 athletes
making the rankings and 23 Championship medals being won throughout the season.
Once again Colin McMaster was the top performer
finishing top in the Under 20s High Jump and 3rd in the Senior Men. During the
season he won he National outdoor title in the Under 20s and took the bronze
medal in the Seniors at both the Indoor and Outdoor Championships. He won the
District Title and also won the bronze medal at the AAA Championships. He
represented both Scotland and Great Britain during the season, finishing 4th in
a match against Germany and France. Colin's jump of 2m 15cm put him into 6th
place in the Scottish All Time Rankings.
Kimberly Canning had another fine season however the
balance of power was swaying towards Alison Bennett. Alison finished 6th in both
the 100m and 200m with Kimberly finishing 7th and 2nd respectively. However
Alison bagged more Championship medals, finishing 3rd and 2nd in the National
100m ad 200m respectively and picking up the bronze in both events at the
championships. Kimberly did however win the National Indoor title over 200m. In
the same age group Lynsey Rankine made her first appearance finishing 15th in
the 80m Hurdles, 20th in the 300m Hurdles and 9th in the High Jump. The
Cumbernauld athlete also won the District 300m Hurdles event and took the silver
in the High Jump. There was also debuts for Emma Tannahill in the High Jump and
Long Jump and Caroline Morrow in the 75m Hurdles, Long Jump and Shot Putt.
In the Senior Rankings Alaister Russell made six
appearances in the year book, with his best placing being 3rd in the 10,000m,
the event which he won the National Championships at whilst running for Border
This was Alaister's 14th year in the rankings, equalling Douglas Frame's record,
and barring injury the record should surely be broken next year.
