Being only 10 miles from the cottage, the Eden Project is a ‘must’ for every visitor. The home of over 100,000 plants from all around the world, the Project has been developed to promote our understanding of the critical relationship that exists between plants, people and resources, and the importance of maintaining the right balance between these.

In 1991 a group of garden enthusiasts discovered, and began the great restoration of, the amazing Victorian gardens and model farm of the Heligan Estate. Today you can revisit these magnificent gardens, faithfully restored to show the exotic plants and revolutionary horticultural technologies of the Victorian era..

King Surf School is just opposite the beach at Mawgan Porth, and offers surfing lessons to all ages. Lessons range from half day to 5 day and wetsuits and boards are provided.

Golf Courses in Cornwall

Enjoy an exhilarating hour or two at the ATV Quad Biking centre at Blackwater near Truro. With beginner, intermediate and advanced circuits, there is something for children and adults of all ages.

Just off the south-west coast of Cornwall lie the beautiful Scilly Isles. Day-trips can be enjoyed by air from Newquay airport (30 minute flight) or by sea from Penzance (2hr 40 mins). You can even take an exciting helicopter ride from Penzance (20 mins). Details about the Islands and how to get there can be found on these links.

 

Scilly Isles

The Camel trail is a dis-used railway track that runs alongside the River Camel from Bodmin to Padstow, via Wadebridge. It runs through 11 miles of beautiful and unspoilt countryside, and is a haven for cyclists, walkers, runners and bird watchers. Although the surface is ideal for cycling, it is also level and smooth, making it suitable for prams and wheelchairs.

Camel Trail

Padstow is situated near the mouth of the Camel Estuary, about 7 miles from Wadebridge. Across the estuary lies Rock and a regular passenger ferry operates between the two places. The area is one of outstanding natural beauty that can be enjoyed on foot with beautiful bays, golden beaches and many interesting walks, particularly along the Coastal Footpath. Alternatively, you can take a trip around the estuary and out to sea on one of the many sightseeing vessels that operate out of Padstow harbour.

A traditional Cornish fishing port, Padstow centres around a most attractive harbour, which is frequented by fishing boats, yachts and cruisers of all sizes and sizes Although very popular and a ‘must’ place to visit, it remains unspoilt and picturesque. In addition to the famous Seafood Restaurant, delicatessen and gift shops run by Rick Stein, there are other good restaurants, pubs and shops, in addition to a cinema, post office and artist studios.
