The Northern, Upper East and
Upper West Regions have two distinct seasons: a dry season and rainy season.
In the UWR, the dry season spans from late September to March. During the dry season,
temperature as high as 40 C are common. With the exception of freak storms, there is no
rainfall during these months.
land becomes extremely dry and
parched with the only greenery being trees and dry season gardens.
At first, the rains begin gradually, but the landscape rapidly
changes colour.
By May, the rains are increadibly
heavy, with several centimetres falling within an hour during heavy storms.
The contrasts between the land
during the two seasons is dramatic, with grass and crops growing to well
over 2 metres in height.
