An interesting book for the student or scientist which looks at all areas of the marine environment and the wide variety of the animals and marine plants that can be found in each type of environment ie: Coastal, Deep water communities and intertidal biology. Almost every aspect of the marine environment is covered in this one book. From the property of sea water, Plankton biology, interactions between marine organisms (symbiosis). In fact a very good baseline introduction to marine biology for those wishing to explore the marine world in greater depth. An interesting read with easy to understand and well organised introduction into the complex marine environment and ecosystem.

Fishes of the Sea contains descriptions of each species of fish including shape, size along with identification marks and species behaviour. The book is easy to read with a selection of photographs and other facts such as habitat and distribution. An easily understandable book for those with an interest in the Marine environment. I used this book for species recognition and information. Some of the photographs on this site are taken from this publication.

Contains descriptions and illustrations of a wide variety of Algae, Crustaceans, Fish and Bivalves with form the ecosystem of this environment. Small in size so it can be used easily in the field.

These areas include The cell, The gene, Mechanisms of evolution, Plants and Animals. This book is a very good general biology book enabling a bases for further study and I used it throughout my degree study period as well as referring to it now when the need arises. My first point of reference.

A useful book giving descriptions on fish structure and morphology as well as detailed exercise on a wide range of Marine biology subjects: Form and Function, Reproduction etc. All the exercises come with complete descriptions, methods and diagrams on the topic. A useful book for anyone interested in marine biology, Both in practical terms and theory.
The Book of Seaweed

An old book but still very useful with line diagrams and short descriptions of the Seaweed's found around the world. Even includes a section on collecting and preserving seaweed and in some cases even cooking and eating it. Contains a chapter detailing various food recipes where the principle ingredient is Seaweed.
