"It was an honour and a pleasure to work with a man of such vision, such breadth of interests, a person who is so cosmopolitan yet whose spirituality and sophistication are rooted in tradition. In his book he remembers the highest values of a traditional life that held honour, kindness and patriotism as highest and most inspiring values. I believe this book to be not only about the Vujovics clan but to have a far-reaching, universal meaning..." Prof. Miloje Mandic, editor of "The Vujovics from Cevske Uble" (Vujovici iz Ubala Cevskih))

Nikola Vujovic was born in Uble Cevske, Montenegro, in 1926, and is the author of this book about the origins and history of The Vujovics family. He gathered his material from archives, documents and oral reports for over 30 years until the book was published and excellently received in 2002. The second edition  is currently in preparation. Nikola  also writes poetry.

Apart from writing Nikola he is a keen gardener, mountain climber and sculptor. His interest in and knowledge about plants, herbs and fruit local to Montenegro and especially Bay of Kotor is well known in the area. His organic garden is a home to many species commonly cultivated in the area as well as more exotic ones.

Nikola has been climbing and exploring mountains throughout the former Yugoslavia and particularly in Montenegro since he was a young man. He discovered a deep underground  cave in the mountain Orjen which was not known before and now carries the name Nikola's cave. Together with his wife Mira at certain times of year he gathers mountain herbs for preparation of health-boosting teas which are very popular in the area and wider in the country.

As a sculptor Nikola works in wood. He is currently working on a thematically connected collection of sculptures.
