ARCHIVED UPDATES & NEWS

15/5/2002
There is now more info available on the official Pulp web page concerning the Budapest concert, essentail if you intend to go.

To clear up the DVD issue: many US and Japanese fans who bought an import copy of the 'Bad Cover Version' DVD have been unable to play it, this is why - the DVD is region free so that is not what is causing the problems, however Japanese and US TV systems and DVD players use a different type of picture to those in Europe, they use NTSC 29.97fps progressive pictures and the DVD is encoded in a Pal 25fps interlaced picture. Now, the vast majority of modern TVs and DVD players in Europe play both types of pictures, but unfortunately 95% of US TVs and DVD players are not compatible with Pal pictures, and this is why the DVD will not play.

8/2/2002
Pulp have announced that they intend to record a new album on Island Records, and will begin writing new material later this year. It is a strong possibility therefore that new material will be tried out on audiences at this summers Forrest Tour, the reaction to which may well determine what songs make the next album.

3/2/2002
The discography is at last fully finished.

'Yesterday' is confirmed as another b-side for the new single, it will be a slightly re-worked version of the '99 demo.

Pulp will definitely not be playing the Ise of White festival.

2/2/2002
It has been confirmed that Nick Cave will record a cover of 'Disco 2000' which may be renamed to 'Disco 2002' for the upcoming 'Bad Cover Version' single due out on March 11.

9/1/2002
It has been announced officially that ‘Bad Cover Version’ will be the next single, the tentative release date for which is Feb 11. As far as b-sides are concerned there will be no remixes and no other album tracks, instead we are likely to get all or a selection of the following: a new track called ‘Happy New Year Baby’ which Jarvis wrote with Richard Hawley, ‘Yesterday’ an unreleased track from the 1999 session of demos and ‘Forever In My Dreams’. Jarvis himself will direct the video for the single.

For those fans who are attending the Forest tour next year there will be no camping available in the actual forests, but there are nearby camp sites (see tickets for details).

21/12/2001
New music in the audio section from Friday Night With Jonathan Ross including an interview with Jarvis and an acoustic version of ‘Birds In Your Garden’ performed by Jarvis and Candida only.

18/12/2001
It has been confirmed that Pulp will release a new single at the start of next year, the title of which is still unannounced and it has not been confirmed whether of not there will be any b-sides. Rumours suggest that the most likely candidate for the next single is ‘Bad Cover Version’ but Pulp may surprise us yet.

13/12/2001
New music in the audio section from Jo Whiley's The Cut.

04/12/2001
Pulp announces a 2002 tour that ends speculation that Jarvis intends to leave the group. Pulp will play numerous dates in June 2002 in forests around the country, being the first band to attempt this. For full information check out the tour page.

16/11/2001
Added live versions of 'Cukoo Song' and 'The Quiet Revolution' to the audio section, with thanx to Nicolas.

15/11/2001
Added 'Whysky In A Jar' to the audio section.

08/11/2001
No real news to report, only that despite the launching of many new Super-Audio CD (SACD) and DVD-Audio players in time for christmas there are currently no plans to release any of Pulp's albums on either format. This is a shame as to hear 'This Is Hardcore' mastered in 5.1 audio on 6 speakers would give the album a whole new dimension.

04/11/2001
The audio for the Jools Holland session is now online.

01/11/2001
The setlist for the Birmingham concert was the following:

1. Weeds
2. Weeds II (The Origin Of the Species)
3. The Fear
4. Birds In Your Garden
5. Wickerman
6. The Trees
7. The Night Minnie Timperley Died
8. I Love Life
9. This Is Hardcore
10. Roadkill
11. Sunrise
12. Party Hard
13. Common People

The concert was great but the radio broadcast was not, the concert was interrupted and the broadcast quality even on digital radio was very poor, as a result no mp3s of this concert will be posted, but the Jools Holland mp3s will be up Sunday night.

27/10/2001
I have not uploaded the Jools Holland session from yesterday as although I have them digitally on minidisc with my current soundcard I can only record them to the computer through the 'Mic In' connector, and hence it does not preserve to any extent the original source quality. I shall try to obtain a new soundcard and then will re-encode all the songs including the peel session ones in hopefully better quality.

25/10/2001
Here is the line up of songs to be played on Later with Jools Holland on friday:

1. The Night Minnie Timperley Died
2. Jarvis Interview
3. Birds In Your Garden
4. Sunrise

Expect the songs to be up in mp3 early saturday morning.

More Tour Dates Have been added in Spain and Ireland.

The Radio 1 video chat with Pulp can now be viewed here.

22/10/2001
The album was released in the UK today as expected, with only one strange feature - all stores I visited had a sticker on the CD saying 'special edition' but what it was referring to is beyond me!

19/10/2001
Pulp performed 'The Trees' live on 'Top of the Pops' tonight, it was an uninspiring performance and Jarvis' singing was more than a little disappointing.

15/10/2001
'The Trees/ Sunrise' 2x CD single entered the chart at number 23 yesterday, and to anyone interested Michael Jackson was kept at number 2 by Kylie Minogue.

14/10/2001
The John Peel concert is now up in full CD quality mp3 in the audio section.

11/10/2001
You can read a transcript of the online chat that Jarvis did for radio 1 here.

8/10/2001
The single is out and i have got the pictures of the inlays up in the discography. There is also a nice Jarvis interview over at NME's website.

3/10/2001
The Pulp track on the CD with NME this week was in fact not an unreleased studio track, but an unreleased live recording of 'Party Hard' from the Paleo Festival in Nyon, Switzerland on July 24 2001.

2/10/2001
It has been confirmed that there will be no bonus tracks on any import copies of 'We Love Life'.

The new copy of NME out tomorrow should feature an unreleased Pulp track on it's free CD.

Despite what Radio 1's website implied and what was said throughout the day Pulp did not play a session on Breezeblock last night, instead it was Jarvis' DJ outfit Desperate Sound System playing a long mix. The Single of 'The Trees' was played but Pulp did not perform. Their first official performance will be on the 11th of October when the John Peel birthday session will be broadcast, following a night of interviews on the 10th. The whole live set will be available to download exclusively here in full CD quality mp3, from a digital source (not ripped from the RealAudio Internet broadcast or from a radio!).

The setlist is as follows:

1. Peter Gunn Theme
2. Sorted For E's & Wizz
3. Help The Aged
4. This Is Hardcore
5. Sunrise

For those unfamiliar with the 'Peter Gunn Theme' it is an old blues track that is featured in the film 'The Blues Brothers'.

1/10/2001
Updated tour information with the Paris concert.

29/09/2001
Jarvis was on 'Liquid News' on BBC 1 last night, they played about 30 seconds of 'The Trees' music video (currently on rotation on MTV-2) as well as a collection of old clips of classic performances from 1995 onwards. He discussed his health and happiness, and seems to be pleased with the new album and life in general - an improvement from the drinking days and the depression that was 'This Is Hardcore'. He also voiced his lack of interest in football, along with his disliking for the group Steps after it was suggested that Pulp copied the idea of doing a double a-side single from them! And after being asked what he thought of the film 'Moulin Rouge' and the new single from it he responded by saying that Ewan McGregor could neither act nor sing! He also had nothing to say about Michael Jackson releasing his new single on the same day as Pulp do. A nice interview if you caught it.

26/09/2001
Added the song 'My Body May Die' to the audio section.

21/09/2001
Catalogue numbers for the 2 CD singles of 'The Trees' b/w 'Sunrise' are now in the discography section along with the tracklisting for the 12". Apart from that, nothing except the graphics for the site are finally finished!

Also i have been informed that the album 'We Love Life' will no longer be an enhanced CD.

20/09/2001
The album has been re-named once more, it is now known as 'We Love Life' however the promotional copy sent to magazines etc. was called 'Pulp Love Life' so whether the title will change once more no one knows! The tentative album cover is also now up in the discography section.

13/09/2001
New UK tour dates added for November 2001 in the tour section.

Check out the audio section to listen to some classic Pulp!

12/09/2001
