Reasons for rehoming

Why do we end up in rescue centres ?
Here are the ten reasons in my experience:

1. The children get bored with us.
2. Our owners say they can't find the time of us.
3. They often abandon us.
4. They moved house and said there was no room for us.
5. The people who sold us got our sexes wrong.
6. There were unplanned litters - see above.
7. Our family broke up.
8. Someone was allergic to us.
9. We were more expensive than expected to look after.
10. We were incompatible with other pets.

Most of us were bought on impulse and with very little thought for the future. Rabbits can live for 10 years or more, Guinea pigs 5-8 years, so please think carefully before you buy us. Parents, please be aware that you need to be responsible for us as your children will probably forget we exist within a year. Please research our needs and be sure you have the time, resources and finances for us. We are living creatures and we feel pain, hunger, fear and distress just as you would if your only carer forgot to care.

Please refuse to support pet centres and 'Breeders' who only want to make a profit from us.
