Welcome to the Turbo Money Pit project website, initially a challenge between two friends Dan and John (not real names obviously), who have long dreamed of owning a Renault 5 GT Turbo and Ford Escort RS Turbo respectively but were put off by their infamous reputations for high running costs and poor reliability. After positive feedback on the guestbook, we also welcome Rick to the project, he recently purchased a Fiat Punto GT Turbo, in a dismantled state from eBay.
After years of reading horror stories from other owners, they've decided that life is for living, and whats the use of having some money put aside if you can't bury it in a fast but delicate turbo-charged pocket rocket. After all, you can't take it with you !!
Ingredients of the Turbo Money Pit project !
1. A group of enthusiasts with deep pockets - we will call them Dan, John and Rick.2. A group of the fastest and most famously unreliable cars ever built - the Ford Escort RS Turbo, Renault 5 GT Turbo, and Fiat Punto GT turbo.
Aims of the Turbo Money Pit project:
1. To buy and run turbo charged classic hot hatches with legendary high running costs2. To document the problems and costs of doing this for the amusement and benefit of others
