Initial Stages
Students are asked to submit a proposal for their essay, failure to do
so will not bring any penalties.
Short tutorials can be given
after handing in the proposal. The proposal will be returned to you, with
comments.
If approved, begin researching for the assignment, otherwise discuss your
proposal with the tutor until an agreement is reached.
On Handing In STUDENTS SHOULD HAND IN TWO COPIES OF THE FINAL ASSIGNMENT
If coloured illustrations are used only one
copy is necessary, this will be returned to you. The other copy can be
a black and white photocopy - this will be kept for QAA and as a record
for THS purposes
Your mark, comments and one copy of
the essay will be returned to you after the vacation (please collect essays
from the appropriate box in the THS office). It is your responsibility
to arrange for the collection of work.
Students are given written feedback on
the assignment/seminar presentation on the THS marks sheet.
A second copy will be lodged on your file which is kept in the THS office.
You may see your marks sheet by asking the school secretary but be patient
and courteous when asking to see it.
REMEMBER:
Do not use hard plastic ring binders
or plastic pockets. A simple staple holding together the pages is
sufficient.
Number all pages including
illustrations if used
A front page must show your name, the
module title and tutor, the assignment title and the date (check your
handbook for full information)
Use either the Havard or the Numerical
system of referencing – don’t mix the two! (Look this
up on the Library
web pages if you are not clear) All references to reading and
sources used must have a reference
Pay particular attention to referencing
any material which is not your own or ideas that have come from reading
and are summarised. You will lose marks if references are
not used.
Requests for extensions
cannot be given by individual tutors – you must make an
application for an extension using the procedures detailed in your
handbook and on the appropriate form.
