Aims

• To develop an understanding of the scope of social practices in the visual arts
• To examine issues of access, inclusion and audience
• To identify underlying patterns and interrelationships in the range of approaches studied
• To examine the implications of current practices for the future of the arts

Objectives

By the end of the module, the student should have

• Extended their knowledge of the social practice of art
• Developed a clear conceptual understanding of key issues
• Examined debates and developed a critical distance
• Researched one of the set topics and presented their findings to their peers, encouraging interactive discussion
