Sheloth the Corrupt, Nurgle Dreadnought

About the Model

This festering fiend is definitely one of my favourite models at the moment. It's a Nurgle Dreadnought which has been entirely scratch-built using the base and feet of an old-style plastic Warlord Titan, leg parts from an Ork Dreadnought, and cardboard. The upper body is almost entirely card, with round plastic bases used for the shoulder joints. The upper arms are made from 40mm monster bases cut in half, and the lascannons are taken from a Space Crusade Tarantula. To disguise the card parts, almost all the surfaces of the model were covered with Green Stuff, into which I cut sores, lesions and veins. I also used small pieces of wire to make larger veins, and blobs of Green Stuff for pustules. After painting, PVA glue and gloss varnish were used to give parts of the model a slimy, slick appearance. To fit in with the rest of my Nurgle army, a couple of Nurglings were also added.

Using the Model

A tooled-up Nurgle Dreadnought is a scary thing indeed. Sheloth's lascannons make him quite the tank hunter, whilst his Nurgle Infestation boosts his armour values up to impressive levels, making him especially deadly in close combat (even Power Fists have some trouble damaging him, and of course, they go last)
