Tu'ath the Fell, Daemon Prince of Khorne

Grrr!

About the model

Tu'ath was the first serious attempt I made at scratch-building a model. He's mainly made of Milliput over a wire armature. Since I'm no Michelangelo, I cheated a bit and nicked the hands from an old-style Lord of Change- the big bracelets he wears formed the sockets to stick the hands into. His wings are also ready-made, and are taken from some dragon-demon thing I bought ages ago which looked terrible when I put it together! I find that big models like this are a lot easier to get right than small ones, since it's a lot easier to get at the work and do stuff like the musculature and the fur. The armour pieces were mostly modelled seperately and then glued on, and the chains are made from, er, chains. The head is a bit basic since I couldn't really get it right if it were more complicated, but it's quite characterful and the single eye is pretty striking.

Tu'ath's Sword

Tu'ath's sword was made from Milliput. To get the shape right, I drew it out full-size on thin card, and placed this template over a fairly thin, even sheet of rolled-out putty. The excess was then trimmed off, taking care not to 'drag' the knife and pull putty out from under the template. Extra detail for the hilt guard was added by moulding on more putty once the sword was dry, and the hilt itself was then added (a putty-coated matchstick with the obligatory skull on the end). Once finished, the sword was placed in the hand which was then bent to grasp it with pliers before the whole lot was glued solid.

Gaming with Tu'ath

Tu'ath is a fairly simple model to use- he's a Daemon Prince of Khorne for either WHFB or WH40k. I usually use him as an allied Warlord for my Khorne warband, where there's just enough points to give him the 'Spellbreaker' reward so I don't need any $%£**g wizards! For the curious, he's called Tu'ath because I built him during a period of recurring dental pain....
