Slough Estates No.3 after 2009 overhaul
About the SWRS:
The Slough & Windsor Railway Society is for anyone interested in railways,
especially railways in the area around Slough and Windsor. In addition
to holding weekly meetings and other events, the Society is the custodian
for Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST "Slough Estates Ltd No.3"
(pictured above), a steam locomotive which is currently based at
the Swindon & Cricklade Railway in Wiltshire.
During 2009, No.3 was taken out-of-service for her ten-yearly boiler overhaul. Now back in service, No.3 is in better mechanical condition than she has been for half-a-century, but the SWRS still need to raise about £5k to cover the cost of this work. If you would like to contribute to No.3's restoration, and help maintain this important survivor of Slough's industrial heritage, please contact one of the Society trustees (see Contact Us). All donations will be most gratefully received.
The Society meets for illustrated talks on Friday nights (see Programme of events) in a former GWR building adjacent to Slough railway station - please see the location page for how to find us.
If you would like more information or to join the Society, please see the Membership page.
