The RegionThe region has around 40 members, who all seem very active in all aspects of pike fishing. Waters fished by the members cover Yorkshire, The Lakes District and Scotland , from bank and boat with lures and baits. We also attend inter-regional & charity events; having forged strong links with the Yorkshire regions. Day and weekend trips are also run with up to 4-days fishing and accommodation on a first come: first served basis, and there are an assortment of trophies to be awarded each season. A club newsletter is E-Mailed to members most months.
The club will also lobby any local clubs that don't have pike friendly policies, and try to educate them and create an environment in which pike are valued, both as a sporting fish and a necessary part of the management and ecology of fresh waters. An example of this is the rule changes to Thornaby AA in 2005, driven by the direct actions of this region.
There is a yearly subscription of £5.00 (£2.50 for juniors) and all members must be members of the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain. We also set up the Fairburn Ings Fishery nr Castleford North Yorkshire, which is now run by an amalgamation of regions under the banner of “The PAC Aire Valley Region”, membership is available at a cost of £10.00 per year on top of our regional fees. In addition we can currently provide discounted Leeds DAAS books as we are association members, as well as discounts for Hull DAA through saving the initial joining fee.
Any body who is not a member of the PAC or the Region will be welcomed to the monthly meetings and talks that run non- stop throughout the year. Our meetings and talks can include tackle sales, raffles, buffets, and occasionally live entertainment. If you’re interested you can get the feel of the club by attending and then you can decide if you want to join.
