October November December

Hi all and welcome to the December newsletter. Our cover picture this month was provided by Jim and gives a wonderful view of one of his favourite venues, Loch Awe. He tells some fascinating tales of his escapades up there (but don't get him on about his daughter grabbing the rod off him and landing a double, he will go on for hours if you do)! Thanks Jim for a great picture, we love you really (but not in any biblical sense if you know what I mean).

As I have already said, if anyone else wants a photo showing here or in the members gallery, please let me have a copy. I am now back online and you can send them to me at chaswhite100@btinternet.com or if you prefer just give me a print and I will do the rest.

Club meeting 8th November.

This was dedicated to the talk and slideshow by Eddie Turner and a great night it was. Unfortunately the turnout was again small, only about 30 people but we managed to break even for costs on the night and thanks to Darron for organising the food, Jim for doing the raffle and Craig/Shane for manning the door.

The show was excellent and he has certainly caught some very big fish over the years. One of the things that impressed me was how inventive he was (and still is), always thinking about how to improve his fishing. I must admit that the video of the big fish from Llangdegfedd caught in the early 1990's had me squirming in my seat. Those fish were out of the water being photographed for far too long and Eddie agreed. The pictures of Eddie with all of his 30's however were inspiring and just showed that by finding the right waters, you never know what you might catch. If only I could find a water like those round here!

Club trip (October 2005)

Unfortunately Kellhead proved just as difficult as on the previous trip and only 2 small fish were caught. Strangely enough though, Jim didn't catch anything this time (must be slipping). The only 2 to catch fish were Darron and Brian who both had small jacks.

The trip for November was cancelled because there has been insufficient time to organise anything due to the ET talk. The trip for December will be discussed at the next club meeting in December.

Club Pike Angler of the Year award.

Please remember to vote for your nomination for this award. The voting will take place at the December meeting when slips will be available. All of the trophies will be engraved with the winner's names and then awarded at the AGM in January. If you haven't already done so, please hand in any club trophy you are holding at the December meeting so that Brian can arrange the engraving.

Gino has had some success on the Tees lately with a beauty of 22lb 8oz. A photo appears in the member's gallery slot although I have blanked out the background on the photo to protect his swim. Well done mate, I think that fish will take the trophy for the biggest fish this year although there is still time for it to be bettered as we don't close the books until 30th November!
