History of The Babington Centre

The building dates from 1820 and has recently been extensively refurbished both internally and externally. It comprises a meeting hall which can be divided in two, an upstairs meeting room and a well fitted modern kitchen. Separate toilet facilities for the disabled are provided, and there is level access from the adjoining car park to the ground floor.

The present trust was established in 1992. The original charity dates from 1691, when the Reverend Zacharias Babington gave a school house so that the children of the poor living in Trellech could be educated. The primary purpose of the trust remains educational, and people living in the ancient parish of Trellech are eligible to benefit. The centre may be used for other charitable activities when it is not required for educational purposes.
