All the News on Juniors (final report)
Friday10 : the team finished off with a fine result against Zimbabwe
and two small losses, for 49 VP from the day - moving them up to 49th
out of 74 in the final ranking. A third of the field lies below
them, so that is a good result for a small country. This was 4
places behind Ireland and 4 ahead of Scotland. England were lying
6th at the end and proceed now ot the knock out stages.
Thursday - day off
Wednesday 8 : above average today with a 35 imp win over Phillippenes, but then a loss to Belarus. Now in 51st position.
Tuesday 7 : only one win today, a narrow win against Spain and then -31
imps against Denmark and a loss to the Guadaloupe-Guyane-Martinique
combination. Moved up to 42nd position with the first win but now
moved back to 54th.
Monday 6 : day three saw a loss to Thailand but then two wins -
against Scotland and Switzerland, which netted 43 VPs out of 90 for the
day. They have moved back to 46th place in the field of 74 teams.
Still holding their place.
Sunday 5 : the Juniors started with a disaster (1-25 loss) but bounced
back quickly with two big wins and have followed with three much
smaller losses. They now have 85 VPs with an average of 90 VP and are
lying 44th in the table.
All the News on Seniors (final erport)
Friday 10 : the team staretd the day with their best result of the
competition, beating Kenya by 20 imps. They lost their final
match by a bit more and ended in 15th place. England ended 6th in the
same section, where the winners were a powerful USA squad.
Thursday : day off
Wednesday 8 : a bad day today - both oppo took the maximum - now down
to 15th place of the 16 in this division. Although one of the
opposing teams was USA, which is full of ex World Champions.
Tuesday 7 : not such a good day, with three losses although to Sweden
it was only by 10 imps. From a peak of 10th place at end of
yesterday, the team is now in its lowest position at 14th. They
played today without Liam Sheridan, which meant Mary & Diana had to
play all three matches. Hard work!
Monday 6 : two good results today, winning by 10 imps and 15
imps - moving 2 places up the table. Now with a VP score of 49%.
Not bad!
Sunday 5 : the Seniors stared with a serious (8-22) loss to the strong
French team but since then have been just 1 VP below average over 5
matches. This included a loss by 12 imps to England and three wins
(China Hong Kong, South Africa and Denmark).
Introduction
Wales is entering a Team in each of the Seniors and Juniors
sections in the first ever Mind Sports Games whch is taking place October 3-18
in China. The teams are
- Seniors : Mary Moore & Diana Jones, Diana Harris & Alan Screen, and Liam Sheridan
& Paul Gagne
- Juniors : Jake Dunn, Catherine Evans, Eve Hatfield, Alan Jones and Chris Owen, with James
Ewington from England as NPC..

The structure is different for each group -
- Seniors : play in 16-team round robin and after 15 matches, the top 8 qualify for the knock out stages.
- Juniors : play in a 15-round, 74-team Swiss teams movement. After that the top 8 teams play a knock-cout.
