From ST MARGARETS HOPE FERRY TERMINAL

· Leave ferry terminal and travel through St Margaret’s Hope village;

· At top village turn left to Kirkwall (A961);

· Continue for about 1½ miles along main road. On a right bend take the road up to the right signposted “South Cara B9044”;

· Proceed up this road for about ½ mile;

· The Old Schoolhouse is the white cottage at the side of the road on the right.

 

From STROMNESS FERRY TERMINAL

· On leaving the ferry terminal turn right to Kirkwall (A965);

· On entering the outskirts of Kirkwall turn right at the first roundabout;

· Continue on this road until it reaches a mini roundabout and turn right;

· Follow this main road (A961) out of Kirkwall through St Mary’s village and onto the barriers;

· Continue over all sea barriers, crossing two small islands, the island of Burray, and onto the island of South Ronaldsay;

· Once on South Ronaldsay take the second left to South Cara (B9044);

· Proceed up this road for about ½ mile;

· The Old Schoolhouse is the white cottage at the side of the road on the right.

 

From KIRKWALL AIRPORT

· As you leave the airport, turn left at main road;

· Continue along this main road for 3.3miles. Turn right onto B9052 to Holm and Barriers;

· Wind your way along this road a further 3.6 miles to its end. Turn left onto the first sea barrier (A961);

· Continue over all sea barriers, crossing two small islands, the island of Burray, and onto the island of South Ronaldsay;

· Once on South Ronaldsay take the second left to South Cara (B9044);

· Proceed up this road for about ½ mile;

· The Old Schoolhouse is the white cottage at the side of the road on the right.

 

From BURWICK FERRY TERMINAL

· Leave Burwick terminal and follow the main road towards Kirkwall (A961);

· Stay on the main road and pass the villiage of St Margaret’s Hope (on the left);

· Continue for about 1½ miles along main road (A961). On a right bend take the road up to the right signposted “South Cara B9044”;

· Proceed up this road for about ½ mile;

· The Old Schoolhouse is the white cottage at the side of the road on the right.
