Well as the saying goes, "All good things must come to an end", and today saw a very good time come to a very good end. Many thanks to those who stayed around for the three hour dancing session at the evening disco, a workout that Simon would gave been proud of, and especially so since we had already played our last game of the season in the morning and 2 hours of mini-hockey in the afternoon.

So let's wind the clock back to 10:30am as the players arrive, Martin greeting everybody with a glass of fizzy wine to celebrate the League title, and Diego showing his knee scars to all. The game started at our normal blistering pace and we immediately put the visitors under pressure. Barely 5 minutes had gone when Gordon stabbed home the first, and then a bit later his second. Keith's trophy for Club's top scorer - already presented to him at the Dinner Dance last week - was looking in danger as Gordon was only 1 goal behind now.

The chances kept coming and it was long before Roland poached two at the back post and Neil scored. We won a short corner and the ball was slipped right to Martin who returned it under pressure a yard behind Keith, no matter we simply circled the ball back round to Keith at the top of the D ... and whoooosh ! The flick flashed over the keeper's flailing arms and high into the net. L'll phil turned one it at the right hand post, and Neil scored after working his way into an open position in front of goal. Before half-time Keith hammered home a shorty to make the score 8-0.

Incredibly it was decided - probably for the 1st time this season - that we had played well in the 1st half and we should just go and do the same in the 2nd half.

As we had 13 players we roled on the changes regularly throughout the 2nd half, and maybe this disrupted our rhythm for the first 10-15 minutes of the 2nd half as we failed to score. I think I prefer the idea that it was the champagne that was wearing off - as that way we can start every game with a glass of bubbly have another glass at half-time -you know it makes sense, and by golly it's more fun than drinking those horrible energy drinks!

Then as is normal for this season our fitness told and we added another 6 goals in the last 20 mins, two poacher's finishes from Gordon, another shorty and a glorious p-flick from Keith, a superb dink over the keeper at the back post from L'il Phil, and that makes 13-0. I've missed one.

Only joking Richard, yes our right back bravely ventured forward in true explorer tradition (just like his hero - Marco Polo) into unchartered waters - the opposition D - and unleashed a piledriver that took several deflections but still had enough pace to beat the keeper. Wild celebrations started from Richard that continued we believe until 1am in the morning when all that could be heard were mutterings of "I scored a goal - top banana - what a great season - top banana - its been top banana - you guys are top banana ...."

Final score 14-0 ... and our 14th consecutive league victory.

After the game we had a picnic lunch and more champagne - along with the opposition who seemed keen to join in with the celebrations - and the comment that sums up the success we have had this season - and especially compared to Woking - was ... " that's probably the most enjoyable 14-0 drubbings I've ever had ".

Martin presented the team with their Gold Medallions, and some little trophies for the end of season awards.
