1911 Paige Detroit
Sorry about this one it just sort of slipped in. This vehicle was bought by my good friend Mike Wilkinson in New York and shipped home to England, here follows a brief history of the vehicle. The vehicle is a late 1911 Paige Detroit, one of only 5 surviving Paige Detroit cars known, this one is the only 1911 touring model known to exist in the world. You may notice that it is a right hand drive car, I believe all American cars were right hand drive at this time, unfortunately I do not know what made them change to driving on the left, any one know ? The original owner was a Judge Howe and his wife of Burlington Vermount. The Judge moved it down Lake Champlain via barge in 1921 to Brandon Vermount where he had a summer house. Judge Howe sold the car to Mr Ralph De-Witt of Brandon in 1928. Ralph taught his Son and Grandson to drive in it, he owned the vehicle for 64 years before he sold it to new owners Jan and Jolyon Hofsted of New York. Paige-Detroit became Paige in 1912 and continued until 1927 when the company was sold to Grahm formally a truck body builder for Dodge Trucks ( my excuse for putting this item on a lorry site ) At this time Grahm-Paige cars came to be, later the Paige was dropped and they became known as Grahm Cars. Here is an original Advert for the cars from The Saturday Post 21st October 1911, Mike's is The Beverley.

As she was 1992 at a show in Brandon, Mike bought her and brought her to England where unfortunately she has fallen into disrepair along with another one of his projects this is believe it or not an E-Type Jaguar.
