The following picture came via an email from Jerry Leake, he is trying to help Mr Geoff Bell find it's history or it's whereabouts if it has not been scrapped.
It is described as a rare Corbitt recovery truck operated by Park Garage at Agden in Cheshire, the driver Mr Geoff Bell who is now in his 80's says it is
one of only about 4/5 left in UK after the war. Mr Bell still lives close to the Park Garage at Agden
After a bit of research on the internet I found out that Corbitt was one of America's first automobile manufacturers, based in Henderson
North Carolina they formed in 1899 but only started making lorries in 1913 In 1916 they became the Corbitt Motor Truck Company.
At the time they were one of the largest producers of lorries in the USA making trucks between 1 and 5 tons During the 2nd World War
production was switched to Military trucks (this is when Geoff Bell's was made) After the war production was stepped up and Corbitt
had a large range of cabover and bonneted heavy haulage units, production came to a halt in 1952 when the founder Richard Corbitt retired.
Derek McLeod called into our Byley site in Cheshire to collect two small pipes for delivery to Aberdeen. His R560 Scania is a credit to him.
