Dubai
I have recently spent 6 months working in Dubai, we constructed a 12 inch dia fuel pipeline from
Jebil Ali Free Zone to Dubai International Airport to help cope with the increased demand for
avation fuel as more and more people fly into Dubai. There is a mixture of work related and
transport pictures. Whilst there are some nice new trucks in Dubai the bulk of the transport
out there is early seventies models well past their prime.
The make of this low loader unit is new to me, it is an Astra ? seen loading a Cat Excavator up on the Emirates Road
Have since looked up Astra on the net, it is an Italian company owned by Iveco
Here is another interesting beast, I captured this MAN 6x6 with Hiab filling up at the Grand Filling Station close to
Dubai International Airport. It is pulling a tandem trailer with a Morooka tracked dumper on board. March 1st 2006
Two older Mercedes Models parked on Jebil Ali Free Zone, Dubai's deep water port.
Two old Bedfords past their prime parked on A Camel farm on the Al Ain Road, the other one providing water storage on same farm.
Weight limit ? what weight limit. Mercedes low loader on 5 axles carrying two PC200's (Approx 40 tons) pictured on Emirates Road
6 wheeler Volvo water tanker by the wall surrounding the Royal Wing at Dubai International Airport, used for Dust suppression.
Every day this tea wallah would come round on his bike with a large tea urn strapped on the back.
Just an ordinary 6 wheel Merc Tipper ? but pulling quite a large load load ? Down by Dubal Aluminium works, Jebil Ali
Sand storm on Emirates road heading from Abu Dhabi to Dubai
Another unusual beast, McConnell Dowell's 6 wheel drive KAMAC Fuel Bowser seen here filling in Jebil Ali yard
Hand digging hole to find services prior to machine dig, the 50mm plastic water line across the excavation had to be diverted
prior to full excavation. Concrete caissons will be inserted into the excavated hole to create a safe working environment for us
to micro tunnell under the road. This was the last tunnel on the job down by Dubai International Airport, you can see a plane
coming to land in the second picture, as the water tanker sprays water for dust suppression on the running track.
AWD shot blast truck gets pulled out of the sand by long reach excavator.
Big Al at Micro tunnel site on Al Ain road.
My wife and I returned to Dubai for a two week vacation New Year 2008, I took these pictures near Hatta heading for Oman. Five Macks
all with wide loads.
