Preston Trunk
Surprising what you see on the old A6 heading North out of Preston. On Friday evening around 2000 hours I stationed
myself in a laybye just north of the Broughton traffic lights to capture on my camera some of the lorries taking part in
the Preston trunk, a vintage lorry run from Dumfriess to Preston and back to Dumfriess. Not all the vehicles pictured
were on the run, some were headed to Scorton steam and vintage fair about 10 miles up the A6 from where I was
situated. I will start off with a vehicle that brought back fond memories, the Graham Adams Atkinson Borderer on the
step frame once belonged to me. Unfortunately due to the onset of of arthritis I was unable to restore her and sold her
on to Stephen Bains of Ingleton who resold her to the present owners, and what a marvelous job they have done.
