Barnard Castle Truck Show
Saturday, Sunday & Monday 26th,27th & 28th August 2006
I extend a big thank you to the Toulson Family and all others involved in producing a first class event. We arrived about 1030
and off loaded Mildred and drove her up the hill to the Vintage lorry section. We parked her up and started to give her a bit
of TLC, cleaned the windows, polished the cab ect. I was a little disappointed there was not more vintage lorries but the new
type lorries and trucks were certainly well represented. There were far too many for me to put a picture of each on this site
but I have managed a few at the bottom of this section to show some of the magnificent air brush paint jobs.
She attracted a lot of attention with people stopping to chat and admire Mildred. One special moment was when an old gentleman
came up with his son and grandchildren and told me he had driven a Thornycroft Sturdy in 1947, we helped him up into the
drivers seat and I took a couple of photos of him, one of his grandchildren had an email address and I sent them on as soon as
I got home.I got a reply saying it had made his Grandad's day which was very pleasing.
Nice old Atki with generator on board for the Showmen
