14th July 2009 - Website update
Apologies for my tardiness in changing the 'next meeting' dates on left. I have set this up to automatically update from now on, so its setup with all dates until end of 2010 which should reduce confusion.
Glad to see the forum is still active, and people are still going to meets, if meeting venue changes, please email me through link on front page and I can update website. Ditto if anyone wants to email me meeting reports, I can cut/paste them onto the news page here.

15th December 2008 - Change of meeting place
Matt requested change of meeting point on website, so this has been updated:
We are gonna now meet at the Blackbrook Tavern from 7.30 - 8ish, same day of the month and all that malarky.
A few of us were getting fed up of standing in the cold and rain waiting.
Hopefully this venue will be of benefit in the summer, ie, it won't matter if people are late or early! We should be able to have a beer in the garden and park the VW's alongside. we should also be easier to find too - That is the plan anyway.....

Well I think that was good fun last night....the Allerford Inn has certainly changed a lot since we were last there!
Felt like I should have dressed a bit smarter for the occasion!!
The cruise back down to macky Dee's drew a few looks as we entered...especial with Rich's antics at the end of the carpark....Squeeeeel!
We took it upon ourselves to book two lanes for Ten Pin on Friday 7th of December for the xmas meet. So get you names down on the thread marked Xmas Meet!

4th May 2007 - Club Meeting - White Lodge
Quiet one at the white lodge as a few people couldn't stay, so will try to do better next month, sounds like a few of us are planning to camp at Van West so check forum for plan.
6th April 2007 - Club Meeting - Cruise to the Anchor Inn

I went to the last meet, with my dad and brother and his g/f and their 2 yr old, Olly and K came, as did Nick, and Matt and a few others whose names i forget (sorry) but we had a cruise of 6 bugs and buses round Taunton and went to the Anchor and it was a good laugh.

January meet was good, we ran up to the Maypole Inn on the A38 between Taunton and Bridgwater.
Two bays turned up, a left hooker from So-Cal I think and a Right hooker from good old Oz.....names are not my strong point!
Enjoyed racing Rich and Frizz up the dual carriageway!!!

6th October 2006 - Club Meeting - Ten Pin Bowling
Thanks to everyone who came bowling, there was a great turn out, scores are on the forum! Matt scored highest overall, so wins his weight in cheese or something :-)
1st September 2006 - September Meeting - Worlds End
Small'ish but ace meet this month 6 bugs, a crewcab and 3or4 of those other things with water in the front of them. Cruised to the Worlds pub End and had a chat and a giggle. Very nice pub, shame about the bump on the way where Rich hit the ground with Crewie bumper and beam :-( Planned to cruise down to Vanfest in convoy, as lots of us are going - see forum for details.

4th August 2006 - August Meeting - Great turnout
Great meet there must of been 15 vw's there bloody wicked turn out.
Were going from strength to strength this year well done everyone.
Was great to meet some of the new members we hope all of you will pop along again would be great to chat some more.

A really good turnout, with loads of new faces which is really good to see, a bunch of people went off to Newt Beer fest, the rest just chatted and chilled !

Was a great meet - BBQ at Great Wood, good to see a couple of new faces, Pete with his lovely blue bug and Pat with his slammed ratty matt black Merc.
I hope everyone got back ok and hope to see most of you at Bristol on the weekend.

Lighter evenings at last ! Met at the White lodge and cruised over to Victory Inn at Allerford, quick pedal kart race and natter in the pub, a great venue, so will be superb in the summer in beer garden etc !

3rd March 2006 - March Meeting - Pub tour
Another cold night, good to see a bunch of new people. We cruised between a few pubs, so we need to research some better venues for next month, at least when the weather gets warmer we can go somewhere outside with a beer garden or somink !

It was freezing cold, so we headed to the Bathpool to get inside, and just chatted - will try to organise something more exciting when the weather starts to get warmer!

Xmas meal was good fun, most of us wimped out and didn't drive VWs, but Rich n Frizz brought their 57 Oval, and Matt & Jo came in their beetle, so respect to them ! Meal was good fun, and hope everyone has a good Christmas, and see you all next year!

Thanks to everyone who came along to this months meeting, we had a good turnout, and some new members, chatted about christmas meal, so will sort out some options and post on the forum, also we will probably move the November meeting from Friday to Saturday so we can go to a fireworks display - again check forum for details.

Quiet one this month at Nick and Doogs, Andy & Deb, Rich 'n Frizz. Steve and Lucy couldn't make it as working on their bus.
5th August 2005 - August Meeting - Hungry Horse Pub
This months meeting started at White Lodge and cruised over to Hungry Horse Stone Gallows pub on the Wellington Road. Steve and Lucy came in their red new beetle all the way from Texas, and Marc and Phoebe came up from Barnstaple in a great looking metallic blue wizard roadster. Sorry no pics !
A few people have suggested we put a phone number on the website as a club contact, and Nick has kindly agreed for his number to be put up, so please text or phone Nick to check details of future meetings !
17th July 2005 - Canoeing at Exeter Quay
A bunch of us went canoeing today, paddled up to the pub for lunch, and back - weather was fantastic, and it was a really good laugh, and only two of us got wet :-)

This months meeting was supposed to be at Great Wood, but as the weather was rubbish, we relocated to Nick and Doogles - they laid on a BBQ and we had a good laugh, chatting and mucked about with bat and ball - a few pics below:
3rd June 2005 - June Meeting - quiet one at the pub
This months meeting was a quiet one at the pub, nice to see a couple of new faces (Steve and Jan from Minehead), and Rich and Frizz came in their split double cab Eva for the first time, no pics from the night but heres two they prepared earlier !
We are trying to sort out some more organised events for future meetings, as people are getting bored with just sitting in the pub now the summer is here, so watch out for some BBQs and camping trips as club events !!
Check forum for details, as it looks like for the summer we will stop meeting at the White Lodge, and organise somewhere fun or an event to meet up for, and will make sure this is shown clearly on the club forum during the week before the meet with directions etc!

Thanks to Nick and Doogle who laid on a superb BBQ for us, it was nice to just sit around and chat about rubbish !
Quite a few people are going to Bristol show next Sunday, so will have to try to catch up there, or meet up to drive up together, will put a thread on the forum to organise.

1st April 2005 - April Meeting - more new people !
Nice to see more new faces tonight, Nick had organised the function room at the Bathpool Inn which was a bit formal, but worked out OK, and was easier than fighting for sofa space in the bar !!
A fair few people were heading up to Volksworld show at Sandown Park early in the morning, so hope you had a good run up, and a good day at the show !
19th March 2005 - Congratulations to Rachel & Andy
Rachel and Andy got married today, so all our congratulations to them both, Bert is off the road having his poptop refurbished, so pic is in front of Betsy.
Hope they have a fantastic honeymoon, and should be back for next meet!
4th March 2005 - March Meeting and loads of people !!
Had a good meeting tonight, with loads and loads of people ! I think there were about 21 people, and several new VWs, Steve and Sarah's fantastic splitscreen bus, five Beetles including one Newbie, and Rich and Frizz brought a very tidy VW Panel van !
Mini cruise was a bit of a disaster as we got split up, but several comedy moments including multiple laps of roundabouts, and three abreast pulling away from the lights (Steve, Anthony and ????) - all good clean fun !
We seemed to have run out of space in the Bathpool, so will look into booking their meeting room for next month maybe ?
Look forward to some banter on the forum !

Good to see a bunch of new people at tonights meet, hope everyone enjoyed the bowling, and didn't take it too seriously ! The team scores were 5 points apart, so I think we should call it a draw !

We hung around at the White Lodge as planned, nice to see Anthony bring his yellow beetle along. Went on to Bathpool, and Gwynne and Kev found us with their 74 Beetle, so good to see some new people. MBF has a lovechild, but we tried not to make a big thing of it, see pics.

3rd December 2004 - Club Christmas Meal
Christmas meal was good fun, and apart from an incident with raspberry sauce being chucked all over Doogle, was all good clean fun ! Steve and Wendy made the most effort to dress up, so they won best dressed ! Steve & Lucy, and Rich & Frizz were the only ones who came in their VWs so respect to them too!

January Volksworld has a letter and photo we sent in from the Jamboree weekend at Watergate Bay ! So we are famous !
5th November 2004 - Fireworks display and pub
Meeting went really well despite our hectic schedule, we made it to the fireworks at Hatch Beachamp which were superb. Got to White Lodge before 8.30 and Rich and Frizz had come in their yellow bay, which was great. Then on to the Hungry Horse/Stonegallows pub, which may become our new venue, and we have booked to have our christmas meal there. See the December meet thread on the forum for details and to make sure we book for you if you want to come.
3rd October 2004 - First anniversary
Wurrzel Dubs had Its first meet on Oct 3rd 2003, so we are now officially 1 year old !
1st October 2004 - October Meeting
Nick & Doogle laid on an amazing BBQ, with plenty of chairs, weather stayed dry, so a good evening, thanks Nick and Doogle !! Pink stickers look great, and will look into a Fireworks display somewhere for November meet, as it is on 5th November !
3rd September 2004 - September Meeting
Had a good natter, and looked through pics from Jamboree, also decided to try a new format for meetings, rather than stay at the White Lodge, we will meet in car park around 8pm then go on somewhere else at around 8.30pm, either another pub, or WHY. October Nick suggested a BBQ at his, and maybe a Fireworks Display in November assuming we can find a suitable one nearby.
31st August 2004 - VW Jamboree club camping
Club camping at VW Jamboree in Newquay was a great success, and had a lot of laughs over the weekend - and the weather was kind ! Steve&Wendy made the best flag, so are official flag flyers, and Nick and Steve made a superb Sandcastle Samba at Watergate bay, complete with safari's, ragtop and caravan !

6th August 2004 - August meeting report
This was the 12th meeting, so coming up to a year next month ! Also Lucy & Steves Bay Oscar's one year anniversary, as they bought him a year ago after having various problems with their last bus. Also had a sample club sticker, shown below fitted to Steve & Lucys bus, so sorted out colours to order a batch of stickers up in time for VW Jamboree at the end of the month, and organised to meet up at Exeter Services to drive down to Jamboree on the Friday.
10th July 2004 - Club camping at Newt Beer Fest
First club camping trip was a great success, met up at the pub, and Neil and Dooogle said hi on their way to Peppercorn. Headed to beer fest in convoy. Friday just chilled out under Gazebo with buses parked all round it, BBQ and chatting. James & Nicola stayed in their bus for the first time, on the newly built bed and foams only cut this week !
A great success for the first club camping trip!
On Sunday the field was very muddy, and there was a certain amount of excitement getting out of the field, including a near miss between two Peugeots !!
2nd July 2004 - July Meeting report
Sorted out who was going to Newt beer fest camping trip, and arranged to meet at the pub and drive over in convoy! Also, Neil, Nick, Doogle and Roly came for the first time in Nick's white bug, and Roly's grey T25.

Discussed getting some stickers made up, and Steve brought up the fact that he thinks a spoon is the ideal thing to paint if you want to see what a paint colour looks like, as you can see how the colour looks on curves, and light shade. This lead to a lot of mickey taking over spoons! Also Matt came along in his fantastic early bay.
7th May 2004 - May Meeting report
James & Nicola had put new seat covers on Betsy, Lucy and Steve had been painting Oscar back to yellow and tidying up bodywork. Steve & Wendy were storing a sofa in the back of their split, which was extremely practical !

Evenings getting lighter, so got some pics outside. MAD from Vzi came in his very pink bug, and James & Nicola brought their US spec deluxe bus Betsy fresh from being repainted.
