The annual Dinner and Dance celebrating the 27th Charter Anniversary of the Club was held at the Centurion Hotel, Midsomer Norton on the 2nd April.
Started in 1977, the Lions motto, "Ordinary People doing Amazing Things" was very evident in the proceedings. President Robert Briggs welcomed guests, District Governor 105W, Brian Dawson, Dr Samantha Briggs, Past President, Rota-Serv and Rotary President Jon Redmond-Lyon. The clubs own incoming District Governor, Alan Denham, together with all their Ladies, completed the top table.
Proceedings commenced with Club President Robert outlining the activities with thanks to the teamwork of all committees. The disabled and senior citizens featured strongly in the events, together with collections of spectacles, mobile phones, stamps and foreign coins raising monies for Lions International Charities. Events would not be as successful as they are without the continued support and hard work of the Lions Ladies. Tom Huyton Play Park Appeal has been to the fore of all members and the money raised will purchase specialist play equipment. Thanks are given to all who have helped in this project and to the local public who have made this successful. Finally, congratulations were given to the Clubs Secretary, Alan Denham, who has been elected District Governor 105W for 2004-2005. District Governor, Brian Dawson responded, speaking on the success of the club, its activities and growing membership.
The toast, "Our Ladies and Guests" was proposed by Vice President, John Whittock. Dr. Samantha Briggs responded on behalf of the Ladies and Guests.
Master of Ceremonies was lion Phil Hathway and the evening continued with Dancing to Val Ross.
