The Highlander Games Visitation

On the morning of the 10th May 2003 RPG S.Q.G.S. Ruling Council members Marc Young, Stephen McMorland and John G Lighterness embarked on the groups second Expedition of Visitation.

The intrepid trio met up in Edinburgh's famous Waverly station, and boarded a train for the fair city of Dundee. An uneventful journey saw them crossing both the Forth and Tay Rail Bridges, arriving in Dundee in the early afternoon. However, getting to Dundee had been the easy part, locating their quarry would prove more troublesome.

The RPG S.Q.G.S. Trio only had the address of the shop and a hastily scrawled map to work from. Stephen "Pathfinder" McMorland took the lead, as he was the only one of the trio who had visited these parts before. With Stephen as guide, the trio explored the streets of Dundee on the lookout for the landmarks shown on their rough map. They walked through areas both commercial and residential, ever vigilant, ever alert for the tell tale signs of a nearby RPG shop. However, as the day wore on it seemed ever more likely that their prey would elude them.

Then their pathfinder, Stephen, decided that drastic times called for drastic measures. He sought out some native Dundonians, and asked for directions. They were most helpful, and the trio were back on the trail again. Within the quarter hour Annfield Street had been located, and Highlander Games hove into view.

Having located their prey, the trio entered the shop. They found it well patronised by card players, apparently involved in a Magic:The Gathering tournament. The RPG S.Q.G.S. members perused the shelves, which were brimming with RPG materials. Each member of the trio made their purchases, then presented their credentials to the staff and informed them that they had qualified to receive a Certificate of Visitation. The gentleman behind the counter, a Mr G McIntyre, seemed genuinely surprised that the shop had been selected for such an honour, but gladly accepted the Certificate.

Satisfied with a mission well accomplished, the RPG S.Q.G.S. Trio took their leave of Mr McIntyre, bade farewell to the patrons of Highlander Games, and made their way back home (However, there were delays, as the Train they were supposed to catch broke down and they had to wait an extra hour for the next one. Such are the perils faced on such expeditions on behalf of the RPG S.Q.G.S).
