Short Stories

These are Short Stories I have written. They are in .pdf format so you can download and read them.

Please note that some of these stories contain rude words and adult situations. I'm telling you this now, so you can't complain later. Consider yourself warned.

The stories fall into different genres, There's Science Fiction, Horror, Fantasy and some that defy definition.

If you like them, please let me know, and I may write some more. If you have any constructive criticism, I would be interested in that as well. And if you want to publish them, get on the phone to me now!

As usual you can reach me here.

Red Velvet Memories

This is one of the first stories I wrote on a computer. It was originally written on my old Amiga500. Not that this has any effect on the quality of the story itself. It was an attempt at a Cyberpunk story. All grime, sex and technology. It also has one of my favorite character names.

The Strange Death and Life of Johnathan Jay

This story was a direct result of watching a couple of terrible Vampire movies of the late 90's, "Tale of a Vampire" and "Interview with the Vampire". You probably haven't heard of the first one, but I'm guessing you've heard of the second. Now I haven't read the books, so I can't comment on them. But if they are as dreary as the Film, then I'm not missing much.

Consumer Culture

This story is an attempt to be a bit more J G Ballard. I would advise everyone who can stomach it, to check out his novel Crash, as well as his collections of Science Fiction Short Stories. I'm not sure if this story is social commentary or mysoginistic claptrap.

The House

OK, This is me trying to be H. P. Lovecraft. I admit it. There may also be a bit of Clive Barker thrown in, just to spice it up. Check the Links page for more H.P. Stuff.

D***N

This started life as just the first line, which I thought up at work. I then had to write a story to go with it. The story went through a few major revisions to get to this stage. I think there is a strong Michael Moorcock influence in this one.

The Teller

This started off as an idea for an AD&D scenario. It's my shortest short story.

Carruthers and the Chaostorm

This was the fist of the Carruthers stories. I wrote it as an introduction to a Role-playing game I was writing. One day I may finish writing the game, which is called Grimoire, and is about occult secret societies in the modern world. I enjoyed the characters in this story so much that I went on to write:

Carruthers and the Beautiful People

The much requested sequel is now here. This is a statement, and a social commentary. It is, hopefully, also a gripping yarn.

Albert

This story is a result of an experiment. I wrote it out of order, one paragraph a day. I then took all the individual paragraphs and editied them together. I was trying to emulate writers like J. G. Ballard, Kurt Vonnegut, Philip K Dick and William Burroughs. Decide for yourself how close I got.

Once I have written some more stuff, I will add it to the list.
