The PubMed interface is available free from the US National Libraries of Medicine site. It has recently been revamped and is now an extremely powerful tool. It is able to perform the most up-to-date Medline search, as Medline is produced at the NLM.

The features of the PubMed interface are:

• Being able to save searches, to rerun within a period of 1 hour
• Combining searches using Boolean logic
• MeSH mapping using both the standard terms, and a thesaurus
• A reasonably good MeSH browser
• Clinical Queries screen which will run some systematic (Haynes) filters for you automatically

• Related Articles facility when search results are displayed
