Best Unsaid      by Preacher John
This one is about the bitterness you get when you split from someone you've been with a long, long time and you're not sure it's the right thing to do, but it feels like the right thing to do... An you're both down about the whole thing, but you wanna try and stay friends at least.... an' then things are said which let you know that she never understood or loved you anyway, rather she just put up with you as a person, for your body and the security of having someone, anyone... an' that illusion you had all those years of someone who cared about you and understood you falls away and you're left with a hatfull of shit.

there's nothing left between us
but speaking bitterness
there's nothing left between us
not better left unsaid
years of accusation
struggling for the light
leave 'em in the darkness
keep 'em out of sight

whatever it is you've got there
oh, it's best unsaid so
whatever it is you've got there
oh, it's best unsaid so
there's nothing left between us
and it's all too late now
there's nothing left between us
and it's all too late now

never disappointed
no-one quite as bad
as i let you down
well, i thought i had
done what was demanded
by truth and honour too
but when it's all accounted
hell it all fell through

whatever it is you've got there
oh, it's best unsaid so
whatever it is you've got there
oh, it's best unsaid so
there's nothing left between us
and it's all too late now
there's nothing left between us
and it's all too late now
