In the Brighton Swiss Pairs, the best place from this county was Derek
Rue in =20th with Tony Sowter, followed by Ray Foulds & Anne
Swannell in =57th. Also in the top 20% of the field were Roy Collard
& Mark Hearsey, Roger Jackson, Tony Bullen. In the Seniors Congress
Pairs best placed was Allan Sanis & Keith Sharp in 5th

In the East/West Wales One Day Swiss teams, first prize went to Joe
Angseesing & Andrew Kambites, Martin Kane & Patrick Shields.

In the mid-Wales teams at Llandridnod Wells, the winning team included
Paul Denning but the 4th team was all Gloucestershire – Ray
Foulds, Anne Swannell, Alex Welsby, Peter Walker. [Jul02]
In the World Wide Simultaneous Pairs on 7th June, a 70.95%
session enabled Alex Selsby and Colin Wadsworth to achieve 3rd
position in the UK, from well over 1100 players. [Jun02]
In the Garden Cities trophy (national inter-clubs team-of-8) Cheltenham,
representing Gloucestershire, came second to Farnborough (Kent) for the
second year running. Cheltenham have won the trophy previously in 1997 and

In the Welsh Seniors two Gloucestershire teams fought bravely to the end
with victory going to Ian & Val Constable, with Andrew Kambites and Marco
Alcalay. Second place went to Norah Allen & Ray Foulds, Geoff &
