Everest from Kala Pattar

Everest, Gokyo and the Cho La
The Khumbu or Everest trek is the number one teahouse trek for big mountains and high altitude. For most, the highlight of this trip is the ascent of Kala Pattar (5600m) for unrivalled close up views of Everest. The trek also offers a myriad other peaks including the stunning Ama Dablam, as well as the Cho La pass and Gokyo with its pristine turquoise lakes.

Kang Guru from Phu Gaun   Naar-Phu and the Kang La
Naar-Phu is both rewarding and frustrating in near equal measures. Since the approach and exit follow the Annapurna circuit, it is impossible to avoid the marauding masses on this trek. However, once you do get off the circuit and into the restricted Naar-Phu Valley, the crowds evaporate and the beauty and tranquillity of this Tibet-esque region will blow you away.

North face of Dhaulagiri I from the French Pass

Dhaulagiri Base Camp
This is a remote and challenging trek around Dhaulagiri I, which at 8167m is the world's 7th highest mountain. The trek combines teahouse lodging with genuine wilderness and offers some of the most spectacular scenery of any trek in Nepal. High altitude and difficult terrain make this a tough but immensely rewarding hike.

The climb to Budzunga Bara

Dhorpatan Circuit and Churren Himal Base Camp
Being completely undeveloped, this trek is ideal for those wanting to get well off the beaten track. Trekking to the remote Churren Himal base camp over the Budzunga Bara pass is an opportunity to explore the densely forested Dhorpatan National Park, a wild national park preserved for blue sheep and snow leopard conservation.

Trail from Muktinath with Nilgiri in background

Jomosom and the Kali Gandaki
Probably the most commercialised short teahouse trek in Nepal although now mostly spoiled by the unpaved vehicle track that stretches it's entire length. Proximity to Pokhara, low altitude, fascinating culture and stunning mountain scenery make this a very popular choice with independent and package trekkers alike. Ideal for beginners or those on a time limit.
