Also includes the Opta Index.

Premierwin www.premierwin.com – If you're fed up throwing away your money at the newspaper's fantasy football league games here's one that doesn't cost a penny.  Choose your players from the Premiership and enter them into as many as 6 teams increasing your chance of winning that big 1 million – yes Sterling Pounds.

Sports.com www.sports.com – Good for stats and live updates.  Check out the 'match centre' for every first class game in England and Scotland giving you updates throughout 90minutes on goals, bookings, subs, shots....very comprehensive.

Teamtalk www.teamtalk.com – Provides at least one daily update on every English and Scottish League club.  There's more tittle tattle here than the tabloids combined.

UEFA www.uefa.com - Somewhat biased news from the horses mouth.

Want to experience the real thing rather than watch the game in some grimey smoke-filled pub? My first tip is for you to join your country's football association. For the big tournaments they will implement a system which is fair on all - give those of you who have been to games more often a better chance of obtaining tickets through a weighted lottery. What if this fails? You can either fork out a fortune through some of these unscrupulous agencies or you can try the black market. Despite authorities trying to ban 'black market' tickets, the net has a number of 'outlets'. I've relied on these on many occasions and no doubt will be trawling these sites for Portugal 2004. NB the ticket prices may still be as ridiculous as those being offered from the touts outside the stadium. At least the following sites will enable you to shop around!

Football Forum www.thefootballforum.net - Discuss everything and anything football related throughout our World Forums. Also offering a Weekly Quiz, and Prediction League.

World Wide Soccer Message Board www.wldcup.com/wwwboard - A good source for tickets. Has a good 'active' forum and provides the latest news on Gazza's comeback part XII.

Soccer Pages forum http://soccerpages.com/forum - another chance to discuss venues, and possibly where to buy those elusive tickets.

Football associations of the world  - Remember FA's will either be telling you not to travel to that game in Macedonia or they may be a useful source for venue directions and sometimes even offer you tickets!

The alternative to watching that game in the flesh is to view the game on the box or alternatively via the net. There are a number of sites that offering you live streaming of the more popular game, many of which are free. All you need is a high speed connection (not 56k dial up!) some decent viewing software such as PlayerPlus (one of the best video and audio players around) from Real and by surfing to one of these sites:

Bluesq.com www.bluesq.com - Blue Square pioneered online gambling and is now one of the largest online book makers. The betting house often shows live games via their site. You have to be registered but don't need to make any bets to watch games. But why not place a bet - who knows how far Ghana can go?

A man had great tickets for the World Cup final As he sits down, another man comes over and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No," he says. "The seat is empty."

"This is incredible!" said the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the World Cup Final, the biggest sporting event in the world and not use it?"

He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first World Cup Final we haven't been to together since we got married."

"Oh ... I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative, or even a neighbour to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head. "No they're all at the funeral."
